Fat Chance – Nick Spalding

Zoe and Greg Milton met in their teenage years after Zoe was asked to take part in a photo shoot with Greg wearing his rugby strip (I know ladies, calm down). Married life is bliss for them and they are very much in love now as they were back when New Kids On The Block ruled your bedroom wall (come on people I can’t be the only one who loved them growing up). Greg and Zoe soon realise that the trouble with married life is that slowly you start to forget about looking after yourself and the weight starts to gain on you.
When Elise (Zoe’s best friend and local radio dj) persuades Zoe and Greg to enter the Fat Chance competition for a chance to win £50k, they think what harm can it do and lets face it we would all lose a crazy amount of weight with that sort of money involved, so they decide to embark on the six month challenge in the hope they can have their lives changed,
Zoe and Greg tell us all about their ups and downs throughout the six months, the embarrassing moments that probably most of us can relate to (changing room incident – enough said). What feels like hell on earth for them, actually turns out to be the best thing that has ever happened to them.
Well what can I say about this book ???? Having never read any Nick Spalding before, I wasnt sure what to expect so I was quite glad when this book was on Kindle for free ( or at least it may have been in a sale, I can’t remember).
Once I read this book, I immediately went onto Amazon (other good e-reader apps are available I should point out) and purchased more books by this author. I even check in the local library for any new material that he may have done.
Sorry to sound abit judgemental here but I love how the author even though a man, has women down to a T (or women like me at least). I could relate to Zoe a lot and to a certain extent, I could also relate to Greg. We’ve all been there when we are in a shop fitting room and tried something on that we then can’t get off after which sends your heart rate racing whilst you are waiting for that rip noise to come from the clothing.
I cant even say who is my favourite character in this book because i loved them all and they all made me chuckle in my own way but I do love the relationship between Zoe and Greg. Its refreshing how they both bounce off each other even after 20 years of being together and the fact that they love each others bodies regardless of how they changed.
In conclusion, I am now a new fan of Nick Spalding and been encouraged from this story to read more of his stuff.
This is definitely for you if you enjoy light hearted chuckle to yourself comedy.

Thank you that means a lot & inspires me to keep going with it. Sometime it can seem like hard work writing reviews & worrying what people think about language etc so thank you 🙂
