Sleeping Fishes

I was trying to read The Appentice by Tess Gerritsen but for some reason, I can’t get into it today so thought I would bless you all with my presence since it’s been over week.

What have you all been up to ? I’m just getting myself geared up ready for going back to work on Wednesday. I really aren’t looking forward to it because it means less time reading and using my social media (shame when I’m just making some lovely new friends).

I went to York this week for a day trip and absolutely loved it. It’s a writers/bloggers/readers paradise (heck, it’s just everyone’s paradise) and if I ever win the lottery, I am going to buy a house there, sit by the canal or in the park and just read. I love how all the streets are so narrow (although I can imagine back in time, the people walking through the streets wouldn’t have said how lovely it is considering the things that got thrown out of the windows – yuck). Whilst I was there, I had nine books fall into my bag so I just had to do the right thing and purchase them (well it was fate). The only downside is that I still couldn’t find any shops or market stalls selling the Shopaholic books that I wanted. On the plus side, I managed to get not only four Jill Mansell (now one of my favourite authors) but the first two Alex Cross books by James Patterson. The best part is, for all the books I managed to get, I spent just fifteen pounds (total bargain I know). I’m like a sniffer dog when it comes to hunting second-hand or cheap books down, I always manage to find them. I always try to mix it up though and get books from the library because it’s important that we keep libraries going forever, and encourage the next generation to keep going. I’ve already decided if I ever have kids then they will be complete book worms just like me and the rest of my family.

Digressed a little there, anyway, whilst walking through York I was looking at the river and could see all the fish (I know, water clean enough to see into – its magic) and remember thinking to myself, I wonder if fish sleep. Maybe they are really clever and pretending to sleep then when their prey comes up, they swim really quickly and eat it all. I also wonder if they ever feel blotted swimming and gulping that water all day, they would be peeing for the world (wow that was a weird Angie-ism even for me).

I also went to visit a friend this week who I haven’t seen for years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I heard a saying somewhere once and it’s something that sticks in my mind and I try to abide by it now. It goes along the lines of “if people aren’t prepared to make an effort with you then let them be”, the ones that do make the effort are the ones I want to keep. I have spent most of my life chasing friends and wanting to be accepted until one day I woke up and thought ‘I like me and that’s all that matters’ (sounding slightly big-headed I know). The friend that I went to visit, made that effort and I am so glad that she did because it shows that there are still lovely people in the world. I am truly blessed with my friends (you all know who you are) and value their friendship a lot. I never had a close best friend growing up but they seem to be finding me now (I know some of you are turning out to be virtual friends as well as the friend in my head – yes she does talk to me and tempts me into the naughty things like cakes and chocolate).

So, I posted my first interview on my blog (yes it was me) but I am hoping to get lots of people agreeing to do the interviews, especially authors. I am finding though that not many people talk back to me (why aren’t you talking to me, it’s getting lonely in my head). I still really want to do a book club or something to do with books but unfortunately, there aren’t enough people in my area that share my love of stories and books to really get anything going.

Anyway I need to go give this book another try and try to get into it

Speak to you all soon my lovelies and happy reading

xoxo
